Rumored Threat to Garfield Community

Dear Garfield Community,

We wanted to inform you about rumored threat to a Garfield High School. Our school is committed to the safety and education of all our students. We also want to clearly communicate with the Garfield community about safety issues when they arise.

The Seattle Police Department was made aware of a threat on social media in Utah of an attack on a Garfield High School. The threat did not specify which Garfield High School in the United States. After investigation, Seattle Police Department along with police departments around the country determined the threat was to Garfield High School in Virginia.  

All threats to our school or students are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. We wanted you to have the facts so you can discuss them with your child.
