Seattle Music Partners Seeking Volunteer Tutors/Mentors

Seattle Music Partners (SMP) provides a free after-school music program for 4th and 5th grade students who attend low-income schools. Volunteer mentors are drawn primarily from Seattle-area high schools and colleges, trained as SMP music tutors, and paired with young students for weekly individual lessons.
Tutoring with SMP is an opportunity to join a team of other musicians eager to serve the community, earn service learning hours, gain teaching experience, receive teacher training and improve your musicianship!

As a volunteer tutor, you will work with an elementary school student at one of four Central District schools (after school) once a week.  In addition to teaching students to read music and play an instrument, volunteers serve as role models and mentors. No prior teaching experience is necessary.

SMP is looking for musicians (high school-aged and older) with:

  • Strong music skills
  • A passion for working with children
  • An interest in community service
