Condolences to Principal Howard’s Family

With sadness we inform the Garfield community that Principal Howard lost his mother on April 3rd to COVID-19.  Cora Howard was a dedicated educator who taught with Seattle Public Schools for 23 years, inspiring her son to follow in her footsteps.  We extend our condolences to the Howard family during this time.

The Seattle Times featured a moving tribute to Mrs. Howard: https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/obituaries/cora-jean-howard-77-a-veteran-seattle-teacher-who-leaves-a-legacy-of-empathy-dies-of-coronavirus/

The Howard Family Memorial Fund is now accepting donations which will be used to help Seattle Public Schools students with their educational needs (scholarships, supplies, etc.), in keeping with Mrs. Howard’s legacy. To contribute, please click here:
