Vocal Jazz Wins 2024 Hampton Fest Sweepstakes

GHS Vocal Jazz was a big winner at the University of Idaho’s 57th Annual Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival April 19-20! Congrats to Mr. Saunders and his 2nd-period singers.

Some 80 Garfield students across four ensembles performed at the event in Moscow, Idaho.  Jazz Ensemble 1 also was a finalist, competing in the “Sweepstakes”  evening concerts, before a packed arena of fans from schools around Idaho and Eastern Washington.

Garfield Director of Bands Jared Sessink reported that as students entered to listen, a chaperone overhead a kid say to his friend, “Can you believe Garfield is in this building right now!?”
