Our signup form is below, and you can decide to only receive our announcements, or also join the PTSA. Before you choose, please read about the PTSA and why we waive membership dues, but hope you are able to donate to our Annual Fund.
The PTSA is a fully volunteer nonprofit that organizes events and other activities to build community at our school; raises some $200,000 annually to address needs not funded by the District; helps advocate for full funding of public education; and ensures teachers and staff feel appreciated.
Our primary role is to align with the vision, mission and goals of Garfield High School so that every student can succeed and thrive.
PTSA members normally must pay "dues," part of which support the work of the citywide, statewide and national PTA organizations. No such financial barrier exists at Garfield. Instead, we ask for contributions to our Annual Fund, in any amount, by families who are financially able. (A portion of these donations will cover dues for both those who contribute and those who do not.)
When you join the PTSA, you will automatically receive the weekly eBark Newsletter. Current and incoming families are encouraged to join the PTSA, but if you wish, you may opt out of membership and still receive the newsletter and other communications.
