Coach Lugo is in his 3rd season as the head varsity soccer coach at Garfield. He grew up playing soccer, and was a 3 year varsity goalie for the Rams at Mount Rainier High School. At Highline Community College he played for the Thunderbirds and majored in History and Social Studies, which he currently teaches at Garfield.  The thing he loves most about Garfield are the people — students, teachers, staff, all of them!

Coach Lugo’s advice to parents of student athletes: “Focus on the fun.  Athletics should be above all else enjoyable, low-stress activities.  Ensuring that your athlete is enjoying themselves will enhance their success on and off the field.”  His coaching mantra echos that advice … “Pride before ego. Fun before anything else.” – Thanks to Heidi King for this story.
