GHS National Merit Semifinalists Named

Congratulations to the GHS 2020 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists!

Zebediah Becker,  Jed Cohen, Annika Lundsgaard, Ciaran O’Kelley, Millan Philipose, Zhemin Shao, Myles Vinh Farr, Blaise Webbeking, and Natasha Wozniak

The state’s semifinalists had the highest scores on the 2018 PSAT, taken by 1.5 million juniors last October. Each state’s number of semifinalists is proportional to the state’s percentage of the graduating seniors from across the nation.

To become a finalist, students must submit a detailed scholarship application that includes academic transcripts, an essay and a letter of recommendation. About 90 percent of semifinalists advance to the finalist level. About half the finalists win a National Merit Scholarship.

Best wishes to our candidates as they move forward toward the finalist selection! Learn more about the National Merit Scholarship Program here.

Congratulations also to Jaya K. Duckworth, GHS Class of 2019, a semifinalist last year who was named a Final National Merit Scholar.  The Final National Merit Scholars of 2019 were announced in July.
