2021 Youth Global Water Summit

Garfield High School students are invited to the 2021 Global Water Summit, a youth-led event bringing together advocates who are committed to creating a healthier & more equitable world.

Who: All high school students are welcome. Please share.

Where: The Summit is virtual and will be hosted on Zoom. Links to each session will be sent to registrants the morning of the event.

Giveaways
For each session you attend, you will be entered into a drawing for a Cotopaxi Unyuni 46L Duffel. Join all 6 sessions and receive 10 entries. Additional Water1st merch giveaways will be made during each session.

Schedule (all times are Pacific Standard Time)

March 26
4-4:45pm Welcome and Water1st 101. Explore the complex problem of the global water crisis, Water1st’s comprehensive solution, and how you can do your part to have a really big impact. Plus trivia game and live drawings!

5-5:30pm – Advocacy as a Lifestyle. There has never been a more important time to advocate for what is right and just. Learn how to adopt a lifestyle of advocacy, and use your voice to be an agent of change.

March 27
10-10:30am The Ripple Effect of Clean Water. Discover how access to household water and sanitation creates a ripple effect for an individual, their family, their community, and the world.

11-11:30am Panel Discussion—Women & Water: the relationship between gender & water. How does access to water impact women & girls in Bangladesh? Learn more about the impact of water on health, age of marriage, number of children, economic opportunities, education, empowerment, etc.

12-12:30pm Engineering our way to a more equitable world. Follow the path of clean water from the source to the home. Why is it critical to pipe water to every household rather install a community-shared tap?

1-1:30pm Panel Discussion—Water1st Youth Programs Alumni. Our extraordinary alumni network will share how their experiences as Water1st youth advocates have shaped their higher education pursuits, applications, and careers.

1:30-2pm Closing Ceremonies. Gather with presenters and Summit participants for a closing discussion, live drawings, and more!

*Each session will be followed by a 10-minute optional “Talk Back” with the moderators.
