PTSA Small Grants

A portion of PTSA budget each year is dedicated to funding changing classroom needs, building improvement projects, and student initiatives that come up throughout the year.  Each teacher can be reimbursed for up to $300 per year with our staff stipend program. Additionally, projects utilizing “small grants” support a wide variety of needs and will be evaluated four times this year by Garfield’s Building Leadership Team.  Staff and faculty members can submit applications for consideration anytime, with the next round of decisions expected in mid-January.  Financial support through this process has been used for a wide range of things such as book orders for instruction and the library, software to support math instruction and college essay writing, a new mural on the 3rd floor, robotics club supplies, and supplemental landscape restoration in the Garfield Courtyard peace and memorial garden.

Students involved in clubs with funding needs should discuss ideas with their faculty advisor.  Applications are evaluated for the breadth of their impact across the school, impact on learning, focus on underserved students, service to academic departments, and demonstrated need.
