Two Garfield Students Win the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

Congratulations to Garfield students Vicente Anyaegbu and Chelsea (Hai Yi) Li on being awarded the 2023 Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship! Each student will receive $40,000 over four years to pursue a degree in computer science or engineering and a paid internship after their freshman year to gain practical work experience with mentorship from Amazon leaders. Also present to share in this celebration were Ted Howard, Garfield’s former principal and now SPS Assistant Superintendent; Brian Day, SPS Director of STEM & CTE; and Earl Bergquist, Garfield’s Computer Science teacher.
