From Teacher Shakita Trahan’s email to students:
This week is packed with engaging events that will inspire and leave a lasting mark on everyone involved.
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: We’ll kick off with 1-hour summits where students will dive into thought-provoking presentations and discussions. Here’s the breakdown:
  • Monday: All-school assembly celebrating the culture of Pan Africanism.
  • Tuesday: All-school assembly focusing on community entrepreneurship.
    • Throughout the Day: The Tuskegee Airmen will be presenting a 25-minute session in the auditorium starting at 1st Period.
  • Thursday: Students will choose between two important topics: Gun Violence or Drug Overdose/Opioids, and report to the designated session location. Attendance will be recorded during these enlightening sessions. Afterward, students will return to their second-period classes for a debrief and meaningful discussions before diving back into academics.
  • Friday: We’ll wrap up the week with our Black Lives Matter Assembly, a grand finale celebrating empowerment, resilience, and the spirit of Black lives.
