Daniel Lee is 2025 Counselor of Year!

Daniel Lee was honored on May 7, 2025

GHS Head Counselor Daniel Lee has been named by Seattle Public Schools as its Counselor of the Year for 2024-25.

The award is in recognition of “outstanding contributions for high school counseling and support of students.

“They have shown the highest standards of integrity, advocacy for students and families, and continued improvement of school counseling practices.”

Fellow Garfield Counselor Kenneth Courtney noted that Mr. Lee also teaches in the Counseling Program at Seattle University. Mr. Courtney said that when he attended a May 7 professional development session for SPS counselors, nearly 20 said Mr. Lee had either taught them in a class or had been a mentor.

“It has been a privilege to share the counseling office with him,” Mr. Courtney said.

Mr. Lee has been a counselor at Garfield since 2013, and has two children who he hopes will be Bulldogs one day.
