2024-25 New Student Open House on Aug. 21
Garfield is offering an Aug. 21 Open House to welcome incoming 9th-graders and all other first-year students and their families.
The event, at 6:30 pm in the Quincy Jones Auditorium, will provide an opportunity to learn more about the school, meet the administrative team, and tour the buildings.
Know before you go:
- No RSVP is asked.
- Parking: If you drive, leave extra time to find a spot and walk to the auditorium. The small lot and driveways facing 23rd Avenue fill up early, so consider the spaces on 25th Avenue adjacent to the football field and on East Alder Street, just south of the main (red brick) building.
- Getting engaged: Family members will be able to sign up for volunteer opportunities to support our students and the staff.
- There will be a quiz, so study. No, no, no, that is not true, but here are (slightly random but interesting) links:
- Principal Hart, a short video he made after he was appointed
- Assistant Principals, in their own words
- The Counselors
- The Garfield News Quiz
- Garfield Messenger (student newspaper)
- The PTSA (parent-teacher-student association)
- Facebook: Garfield families group and PTSA page
- A selective history of Garfield [Wikipedia]
- The 2024 “4-peat” state champ girls basketball team [Seattle Times]
- Lip Dub from 2016 (still fun after all these years)
- Quincy Jones, a legendary Garfield alum
We look forward to meeting our new students and families!
— Principal Tarance Hart
