Healthy Youth Survey 2018 Results

Seattle Public Schools participates in the Healthy Youth Survey every even year in October.  The survey is administered to students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12.  Student participation is completely voluntary and anonymous.  This survey measures various health-related issues including mental and sexual health and substance use.  Survey results not only indicate changes in health behavior, they are also used to help identify areas where students need support.  Prevention coordinators, community mobilization coalitions, community public health and safety networks, and others use this information to guide policy and programs that serve youth.  The Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) is a collaborative effort of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Department of Health, the Health Care Authority – Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery, and Liquor and Cannabis Board.
