Incoming Principal Dr. Hart Visits Garfield

Dr. Tarance Hart, Garfield’s incoming principal, visited campus this week and met with teachers, staff and students in the building.  Dr. Hart set aside some time in his busy schedule to meet briefly with parents via Zoom, outreach to parents which is greatly appreciated.  Dr. Hart wants to hear from community members what we consider to be Garfield’s most pressing concerns as well as Garfield’s strengths. For the parents in attendance, two main themes emerged – improving communications and increasing the connections between the different student and family groups at the school for a more unified school community.

Dr. Hart comes to Garfield with over twenty years experience in education as a middle and high school teacher, serving at the Mississippi Department of Education in various roles including as the Director of Educator Effectiveness, and as an Assistant Principal at the high school level.
