Invitation to Superintendent Search Town Hall — Thursday, Jan. 18

Dear Families, Students, Staff and Community Partners:

In June 2018, Superintendent Nyland’s multiyear contract will conclude. In the next six months, as governed by law, the School Board’s most important job is to hire a new superintendent who can build on the district’s success, sustain our focus on racial equity and closing opportunity gaps, and ignite the entire community’s commitment to public education and our students.

As we embark on this exciting superintendent search, we are asking for your input. On Thursday, Jan. 18 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM, the School Board will host a community town hall at Nova High School, 2410 E. Cherry St., Seattle 98122. Join us to learn more about the superintendent search process, timeline and have an opportunity to ask questions of the search firm and School Board members.

Last week you also received a superintendent search survey. If you have not already done so, please complete the survey by Friday, Jan. 19. We want to know what leadership qualities matter most to you in a superintendent. The provided input will help shape the position description and candidate selection criteria. To learn more about the engagement process and for more information, visit the School Board’s superintendent search webpage.

This will be the first time the public has had a formal opportunity to provide feedback on a superintendent search since 2012. We look forward to reviewing the feedback provided and thank you in advance for engaging in this important process.

Cordially,

Leslie Harris, President

Seattle School Board
