Meet Chalayia Jackson! GHS’s Cheer Coach
Chalayia Jackson has coached cheer at Garfield for 3 years and is a proud member of the Class of 1997! As a student she was not a cheerleader, but played basketball and ran track. Her son Terrell Brown was on the GHS varsity basketball team that won back-to-back 3A and 4A championships, and will be attending college in Oregon this fall.
In addition to cheer, she is involved with Little League football in the Central District. In a couple of years, more of her children will be at Garfield!
Her advice to parents of student athletes: “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it,” Michael Jordan.
