Dr. Tarance Hart Named New Principal of Garfield

Dear Garfield High School Community:

I am pleased to announce Dr. Tarance D. Hart as the next principal of Garfield High School. Dr. Hart will be replacing Acting Principal Princess Shareef, who stepped in to support Garfield High School this school year as we went through the hiring process for a new principal. Dr. Hart was selected through a rigorous process which included multiple interviews with central office staff, including school-based interview teams, and was interviewed and selected by Superintendent Juneau based on his commitment to equity, his strong focus on instruction, and his belief in building and supporting relationships with students, staff, and community.  Dr. Hart’s most recent experience aligns with the school’s stakeholders’ vision and commitment to being student-centered, collaborative, and results orientated. Dr. Hart will begin as principal starting July 1, 2021.
