4 Garfield entries at state level of PTSA Reflections arts program

Four works have been selected to represent Garfield High School at the state level of the 2024-25 PTSA Reflections Arts Program. This year’s theme: Accepting imperfection.

Literature

  • El Harker, “My Camera Roll”
Photography
  • Julian Beaty, “One and Done”
  • Abbey Etheridge, “POV”
  • Taylor Noel, “Fractures”

Congratulations to all our student participants, with special thanks to Mr. Louviere and Mx. Edelman for facilitating this year’s entry process.

Garfield submitted 9 entries, in the Photography and Literature categories, to the citywide level, where they were judged by a panel of creative professionals, and assigned a score, with points given for Interpretation of Theme, Creativity, and Technical Skill.

Four of Garfield’s entries scored well enough to be included in the group of 30 works submitted from Seattle Council PTSA to the state level, where they will compete with works from schools all around Washington. State-level results should be available in late winter, with potential for competition at the national level. Stay tuned!

The Reflections program was founded by Mary Lou Anderson in 1969 and provides students an opportunity for recognition and access to the arts which boosts student confidence and success in the arts and in life. You can learn more about the program here: https://www.pta.org/home/programs/reflections
