Sept. 3, 2024, Counseling Dept. update
Principal Hart on Sept. 3, 2024, alerted the community to a temporary set of changes affecting Counselor assignments. That information is below, but take a look at:

Counselor Ken Courtney will be on leave at the start of the school year. During his leave, his caseload has been temporarily reassigned as follows:

Course Change Requests:
- Student-Initiated Course Changes: If a student needs to request a course change, they must complete the attached form. This form can be submitted either via email or in person and is due by 4 PM on Friday, September 6th, for both first—and second-semester course changes.
- Course change requests are only permitted under the following conditions:
- Missing a college entrance requirement.
- Missing a core subject class.
- Missing a graduation requirement credit.
- Enrolled in fewer than 6 classes.
- Running Start conflict.
- Already completed the course.
- Please note: Requests for elective swaps or teacher preference changes will not be accepted, as per the Counseling Department policy.
- Course change requests are only permitted under the following conditions:
- Teacher-Initiated Course Changes: Teachers needing to initiate a course change for a student should email the appropriate counselor directly, and we will do our best to accommodate the request.
Class Attendance During Course Change Requests:
- Students should continue attending their currently scheduled classes until they receive an official email from their counselor confirming that their course change request has been processed.
- This is a great opportunity to emphasize the importance of regularly checking school email accounts! We aim to process all course change requests by the 10th day of school, September 17th.
Counseling Office Visits:
- Only the following students should be waiting in the queue to see a counselor:
- Students without a schedule.
- Running Start students.
- Students with a hole in their schedule.
- Course change request forms will be available in the counseling office tomorrow. Students who receive this form are expected to return to class or lunch after collecting it.
