Updated 2025 state & AP testing dates
UPDATED, March 25: Garfield has set the windows when students will take state assessments in late April and May. Advanced Placement (AP) dates in May were previously announced by the College Board.
2025 State Assessment Dates
Smarter Balanced ELA & Math (SBA): Required for all 10th-graders, and available to 11th- and 12th-graders needing SBA to meet graduation requirements.
- April 28-May 27 (Grade 10)
- May 28-30 (Grade 11-12)
Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS): Taken by 11th-graders only.
- May 8 (Grade 11)
AP Exam Testing Window
- Week 1: May 5-9, 2025
- Week 2: May 12-16, 2025
Students should confirm their exam times and locations with their teachers or with Assistant Principal Ivery Rhodes, Garfield’s AP Coordinator.
The College Board website offers a full AP exam schedule, including late-testing dates.
Accommodations for students with IEP or 504 plan are only available if approved by the College Board several months in advance.
AP exams are now digital, for most subjects.
Students should be well-rested and on time for their exams. For questions, contact Assistant Principal Rhodes (for AP exams) or a student’s counselor (for state assessments).
