Volunteer and Meet the Mayor!
Come join Mayor Bruce Harrell as he visits his alma mater, Garfield High School, during One Seattle Day of Service on May 21, a community event to celebrate spring, renewal, and togetherness. Volunteering starts at 9 and wraps up at 12. Dr. Hart will also be there, as well as representatives from Seattle Parks and the Garfield Super Block project that is improving the public spaces between Garfield Campus and the Garfield Community center. Duties include trash pickup (gloves, bags and sticks to be provided) and possibly some light gardening. The Super Block team will also have art activities for participants. Garfield, Nova, Washington and Meany students especially encouraged (earn some community service hours!) and families and community members all welcome. Participants will receive t-shirts. If we have more than 30 signups, priority will be given to high school students.
