Next GHS volunteering info session: Sept. 11
Learn about opportunities and how to complete the application process at Garfield’s next 2024-25 Volunteer Information Session, 6 pm, Wednesday, Sept. 11, in the Commons (first floor of main building).
(The first session was held Wednesday, Aug. 28.)
Principal Tarance Hart said, “Families and community members are encouraged to volunteer with us. Your partnership is vital as we work together to ensure Garfield remains a safe, supportive, and thriving environment for all.”
This session will also offer already-approved volunteers a chance to sign up for specific roles.
Some advance information and links:
- Garfield’s volunteering info page includes a welcome message and contact info for the Volunteer Coordinator, whose position is supported by the PTSA.
- Seattle School District’s volunteer application process is required for many at-school and field trip volunteer opportunities. It involves viewing of a video and providing information for a background check.
- Check the SPS Volunteer Portal if you completed the process in the last year or so, and believe you are already an approved volunteer. (You may need to update information, such as the school(s) where you plan to volunteer.)
- Upcoming at-school needs: See this SignupGenius site. Note that the school in fall 2024 plans to launch a new opportunities/signup page.
No SPS application is required for most volunteer roles at Garfield organizations such as the PTSA, arts-support organizations and sports booster associations. Check with those organizations for further details.
