King County Councilmember Zahilay Visit

King County Councilmember Girmay Zahilay visited Garfield last week to congratulate the 3A state champion girls and boys basketball teams. Mr. Zahilay announced a surprise $10,000 award to the school from the King County Get Active Stay Active Grant. The funds are to be used to ensure that fees and other costs are not barriers to participation for students who wish to be on the teams, according to Mr. Zahilay’s office.
