Advanced Learning Task Force – Next Steps

The Advanced Learning Task Force has been meeting since September 2018 to review and make recommendations to the superintendent related to the policies, procedures, and practices of advanced learning programs and highly capable services. This representative group of parents, staff, community members, and experts has reviewed data, case studies, policies, laws, and stories from students themselves to rethink and re-examine SPS practices to ensure all students receive the high-quality instruction necessary to grow and achieve, across all SPS schools.

Their work is coming to a close and the task force is making final adjustments to the recommendations they will present to the superintendent following their last meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

There is still work to be done. To continue the momentum of ensuring equitable access to advanced learning opportunities, the district will be convening a new ongoing advisory group: the Highly Capable and Racial Equity Services Advisory (HC/RESA).
