All current GHS students are invited to audition for Garfield’s Fall Play, a Shakespearean comedy! Theatre Director, Ms. Gress, will decide on the play based on who attends auditions, the readings of scenes, and actor availability in preparation for our Fall Play.
General auditions will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, September 14 and 15, after school at The Black Box Theatre (Room Q120). No prior classes or experience required!
- Rehearsals: Mondays-Thursdays after school, September 19-November 19.
- Tech Week (No Conflicts): November 7-11.
- Performances: November 11-19.

Garfield Music families are invited to attend a Welcome Night for students and families in the Garfield Commons. Pizza and light refreshments will be provided.
During this event, families will hear directly from the music teachers and sponsoring non-profit organizations about calendar events, expectations, travel expenses, and volunteer needs. It has been a long time since our music ensembles have had unrestricted performance and travel opportunities, so we highly encourage you to attend!
Garfield Jazz Ensemble 1 will perform in the Earshot Jazz Festival at Town Hall on Saturday, October 8, at 7:30pm. This year’s concert is a tribute to Seattle’s beloved pianist Overton Berry. Garfield Jazz will be joined by vocalist/pianist Diane Schuur and bassist Bruce Phares. At Overton Berry’s request, Garfield Jazz will receive a portion of the proceeds.

On Monday, October 10, we honor Native American culture and history in recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Special Schedule
- 8:30 – 8:55 a.m. – Arrive and Check In; Report directly to assigned classroom
- 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 + p.m. Grade 11 PSAT, Grade 12 SAT No admissions to testing after 9 a.m.
- * 1 – 2 p.m. Lunch and Dismissal for testers
- Bring: Approved Calculator, #2 Pencils, Student ID or Government ID, Water/Snack (must be left at the back of the classroom)
- Don’t Bring: Computers, Electronic Devices, etc. Cell phones must be off and put away during test.

Save the date for Curriculum Night on Thursday, October 13! This is a parent’s opportunity to hear from school administrators and visit your student’s classrooms to meet their teachers.
- Parents/Guardians should get their student’s schedule from The Source.

- Teachers are required to attend a closing staff meeting at 8:45 pm, so there will be a hard 8:35 pm stop time.
- Parents needing to discuss specific issues with teachers can schedule appointments or calls.
