Congratulations! 2019 GHS State High School Chess Champion and First Place Team

Garfield Senior Roland F. won the Washington State High School Chess Individual tournament held at Lakeside School in January, so he is this year’s State High School Chess Champion!  

Also, Junior Jan B. placed 6th overall and Freshmen Andrew N. and George K. also had excellent showings.

Together, the four Garfield players won the first place trophy for the top team at the event! Big congratulations to Garfield chess!
