Is your Senior on track?
Is your Senior ready for graduation and after? Counselors will be visiting Class of 2025 Language Arts classes Sept. 30 – Oct. 4 to discuss:
- Graduation requirements
- College application process (including letter of recommendation, the Common App, etc.)
- Seattle Promise Scholarship, trades, apprenticeships, etc.
Later in the year, counselors will email students important information about topics such as the Naviance college and career planning online tool.
—> It is stressed that students should check their Seattle Public Schools email account daily.
What to do first
Download the 2024-25 Garfield College & Career Resource Sheet that has info about the Common App, college app process, scholarships, trades, apprenticeships, financial aid, etc. Before students email a counselor with a question, they should review this document carefully (because the answer may be there)!
Students can follow the Counseling Center Instagram account for info about jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, getting involved, and other announcements!
Check the list of visits to GHS by college representatives. These valuable information sessions occur several times weekly, usually during Advisory.
Running Start students
Counselors host a separate meeting for students who do not have a Language Arts class at Garfield. (These students need to check email for updates.)
Running Start students who have not yet registered for fall quarter should see their counselor as soon as possible to discuss a plan.
