PTSA Board Endorses Levies; Election is Feb. 8

The Garfield PTSA Board has endorsed both education levies proposed for approval by Seattle voters on Feb. 8. The Board met after the conclusion of last night’s PTSA General Meeting, which included a presentation and Q&A about the 6-year BTA V Levy (for technology, maintenance and capital projects) and 3-year Educational Programs and Operations Levy (annual staffing and other expenses not covered by state funds).

The Board also allocated $1,000 to support the Schools First Seattle nonprofit, which campaigns for the levies.

The two levies both are re-authorization of existing property taxes that already cover a large portion of K-12 education expenses in Seattle. Full information on how the $1.4 billion in taxes is to be spent is at https://www.schoolsfirstseattle.org and https://www.seattleschools.org/about/levy.
