State Language Arts and Math Testing is Coming Soon!

As you may be aware, all students must pass state exams in Language Arts and Math in order to graduate from a Washington public high school. All of the tests, called Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA), are given on the computer in the 10th grade. Students in 10th grade Language Arts (LA) will take their LA exam within their LA class during a week dedicated to testing. Any 11th graders who still need to pass the LA test will be told when the computer lab will be open so they can come test with Ms. McBride, GHS testing coordinator. All 10th and any 11th graders who still need to take the math test will do so within their math class, also during a week dedicated to testing. It is imperative that students attend each day during the testing week as make-ups are not available until November.

Testing will run from Monday, March 19 through the first week of June, and students will be scheduled dependent on the week their teacher has chosen to test.

No 9th graders will test this year, as it is not allowed by the state Board of Education.

If you have any questions about state testing, please email Kris McBride, testing coordinator, at krmcbride@seattleschools.org. Check the TESTING PAGE ON THE SCHOOL WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
