Undoing Bias & Teaching Equity Event

Calling all Garfield High School parents, guardians, and educators:

We educators in the GHS Ethnic Studies Professional Learning Community  & GHS Racial Equity Team are writing to invite you to join us for a special event on Wednesday, November 18th at 6:00pm, hosted by Families of Color Seattle (FOCS) called, “Undoing Bias & Teaching Equity.”  Please register today!

This is a special opportunity to hear from educators at Garfield who are infusing an Ethnic Studies approach to education in various academic disciplines, as well as to hear from community leaders in FOCS about how to join efforts for racial justice in your child’s education.  Additionally, we will talk about why this work is important for white families and how Black, Indigenous, and families of color can advocate for their needs in the school district.

Garfield High School has a team of educators who are organizing the Ethnic Studies Professional Learning Community (PLC) to help bring an antiracist approach to education throughout the curriculum. Please join us to learn more about these efforts and supports that are available for Black, Indigenous, and students of color.

We hope that you will register for the event and invite other Garfield High School families to join.

Thanks so much!

Sincerely,

Garfield High School Ethnic Studies Professional Learning Community

Garfield High School Racial Equity Team
