CALL for ART: 2026 Swing Dance Poster

Create POSTER ART for SPRING SWING
ART DEADLINE: MON, FEB 23 after Spring Break

Spring Swing is a community celebration, swing dance and fundraiser with live music by Garfield’s award-winning jazz bands. Swing Dance instruction will be provided by Garfield parent Greg Holcomb.

Spring Swing – Student Dance in the Garfield commons – Friday, April 3
Spring Swing – Community Dance & Fundraiser – Saturday, April 4

ART DEADLINE: MON, FEB 23 after Spring Break

Final art will be used to publicize the Swing Dance in print and social media:
– Posters
– Program cover
– Web, Facebook and Instagram

SUBMISSION: Send a simple digital file or digital photo of your submission by MONDAY, 2/23 to: arts@garfieldptsa.org
Mr. Sessink (music) or Ms. West (art) can forward your work from an SPS email address if needed.

FINAL ART must be adaptable to a 11×17 poster image size at 300dpi (3300 x 5100 pixels)
We can work with you to format, scan or photograph final design for use in the poster and program and social media.

– can be full color or black & white
– Traditional art or digital or photography – NO A.I.
– Imagery or text/font or both

We are looking for imaginative concepts and imagery with the potential to create a strong, attractive design. A professional designer will adapt chosen work for use in the poster and programs. You can be as involved in this process as you wish!

Possible inspiration:
– Dancing, jazz, instruments, musicians
– Avoid easy stereotypes; consider approaches that will make all Garfield communities feel welcome.

The winning entry or entries will receive: 
– Written credit on posters and programs
– Copies of printed and digital materials for portfolio use
– $100 honorarium
