Advocacy Focus: Budget & Upcoming Events
It’s time to take a final look at the Legislature’s potential adjustments to the 2023-25 budget, with less than 2 weeks before the session ends.
Washington State PTA provides a great summary and you’ll learn more about PTA’s “big four” areas for potentially improved funding:
- increasing the special education enrollment funding cap
- increasing state funding for operating costs in schools
- providing adequate and predictable student transportation
- increasing prototypical school staffing to better meet student needs
Budget-writers will work on reconciling the differences between House and Senate versions. When proposals emerge from conference committees, no further amendments are allowed before the final votes in each chamber.
