Students Lead Clothing & Toiletries Drive

Clothing and other necessitiesomanDo you have spare winter clothing, toys or toiletries? Multiple Garfield student organizations are collaborating to collect items starting Jan. 11 to help recent immigrants, unhoused people, and others in need.

Drop off the items (see below) in Room 107 (Dr. A) or the front of the building. The drive will continue until need is met!

The sponsoring organizations are the Asian Pacific Islander Student Union (APISU), Muslim Student Association (MSA), Black Student Union (BSU), CIS Countries Student Association (CCSA), Razas Unidas, and Jewish Student Union (JSU). 

REQUESTED ITEMS

  • COLD WEATHER GEAR*, such as coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, socks, sleeping bags, tents, etc.
  • TOILETRIES, such as hand sanitizer* (travel-size), bath wipes*, shampoo/conditioner, soap, lotion, band aids, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, menstrual pads, etc.
  • OTHER, such as non-perishable snacks (like granola bars), handwarmers* (i.e. HotHands), toys, games, books, and luggage.

Charities to benefit include Chu Minh Tofu Mutual Aid, Super Familia, Ukraine Community Center of Washington. Items will go to unhoused community members in the CID, undocumented and unaccompanied youth, and Ukrainian immigrants.
