Construction on 23rd Ave. S. from S. Jackson St. to Rainier Ave. S. Begins Monday, May 14

Construction on 23rd Ave. S. from S. Jackson St. to Rainier Ave. S. will be starting Monday, May 14 for the Seattle Department of Transportation’s 23rd Avenue Corridor Improvements Project. Construction re-routes of King County Metro Routes 4 and 48 will also begin that Monday.

One of the first steps of construction will be preparing for the closure of southbound 23rd Ave. S., with a detour to Martin Luther King Jr. Way S., from S. Jackson St. to S. Massachusetts St. This detour will begin on Wednesday, May 16, and is expected to last for the duration of construction, or approximately one year. Northbound traffic will be maintained on 23rd Ave. S.
