Debate Team Growls at Bear Creek

Congratulations to the Debate Team, which took home many prizes at the recent 11th Annual Grizzlies Forensics Invitational hosted by Bear Creek School in Redmond.

Sam Schaible and Oliver Rowe-Bardeen won 1st place in the Open (varsity) Division of “Policy Debate.” The topic was “Resolved: The United States Federal Government should substantially increase fiscal redistribution in the United States by adopting a federal jobs guarantee, expanding Social Security, and/or providing a basic income.”

In the individual “Speaker” competition, Sam won 1st place and Oliver took 2nd. (Policy Debate is done in pairs, so Oliver and Sam won that award together, and were each separately eligible for “Speaker” awards.)

In the Novice Division, Michelle Nguyen and Kian Naeemi won 1st Place and Sawyer King and Josh Santos came in 2nd. GHS also won many Speaker awards in the Novice Division:
