Debate Team Places in Washington State Championship

Congratulations to the Garfield High School Debate Team on their outstanding showing at the 2023 State Championship last weekend!

This year, our State competitors were Sam Schaible, Oliver Rowe-Bardeen, Reuben Wasserman, and Zoe Schurman. Sam and Oliver placed 3rd in the Policy Debate. The team also received Speaker Awards for Reuben (3rd overall) and Sam (4th overall).

Garfield’s Debate team was started in 2014 and is coached by Elizabeth and Jason Young. Debate is one of the many Garfield clubs supported by PTSA Small Grants.
