Easy Way to Lobby on Education Issues

The State Legislature has begun its 2024 session, and Washington State PTA is helping families and others tell legislators about issues of importance to K-12 education.

Everyone in the Garfield community can be part of the advocacy efforts being organized by WSPTA. It’s easy to sign up for “Action Alerts” or send a onetime pre-composed email to your local Representatives and Senator.

The GHS PTSA Advocacy Team has the following tips:

  • If you’re not a Garfield PTSA member, you can still take part.  When using the pre-composed email form, edit the text to say you are a “Garfield High School (Seattle) parent” (or other GHS connection).
  • Make the email your own by editing the subject line or other text to be more specific about your opinions.
  • Get friends to join you in this effort! It takes more than one email to have real impact, as we were reminded at the January PTSA meeting by State Sen. Jamie Pedersen, a Garfield parent.

Don’t delay. Check out the issues highlighted by WSPTA now.
