Learning about Garfield Clubs and Organizations

Did you know that GHS has dozens of student-led clubs and organizations? They cover a broad range of topics …  Theater Tech, Debate, Art, heritage-affinity, social-issue affinity … and so many more that there is something for everyone.

Some of the clubs and organizations relate directly to curricular offerings. For example, students in business/marketing courses often become members of the Garfield chapter of DECA; students in theater courses may be active in a Garfield theater-related club and also become members of the Thespians.

Clubs’ meetings are usually publicized with posters in the buildings and via social media such as Instagram. (Can’t locate a club’s posts? Try a search, using “Garfield” or “GHS” and the activity name.)

• Information on clubs also is posted on the GHS website, usually updated in the fall.
• A Clubs Fair is usually held in early fall. The date may be on the GHS website’s calendar or PTSA website’s calendar.
• Funding for club activities comes from the PTSA budget, clubs’ own fundraising and the ASB.
