Garfield Y-Scholars Currently Recruiting Incoming Freshmen
Y-Scholars is a free college readiness program for African American students at Garfield High School. Y-Scholars strives to provide students with the tools needed to successfully navigate preparing for college and applying for scholarships. Every year the program accepts 30 incoming freshmen who have the goal of attending a four-year university.
Program highlights include:
- After-school study sessions
- Monthly field trips to in-state and out-of-state colleges, movies, businesses, and more!
- Individualized college readiness support (SAT Prep, college applications, personal statement essays, scholarships, etc.) during junior and senior year, which has resulted in 100% college acceptance rate!
- Academic support, social support, and incentives during all four years of the program.
