High School Boundaries Update

Dear Families:

Tomorrow, during the regular School Board Meeting (2445 3rd Ave. S), board directors will continue high school boundary change discussions including potential high school Highly Capable (HC) pathways. This is an adjustment to the timeline communicated on Dec. 13 and will provide additional time for board discussion and deliberation. A formal introduction of the 2019-20 high school boundaries to the School Board is planned for Jan. 17

Creating new high school boundaries is a complex and sensitive process. It requires balancing multiple factors, including but not limited to, student enrollment, programs, services and transportation. Our goal throughout this process has been to gather the perspectives of families, students and staff and keep you informed of timelines and any updates.

To review additional information and the updated timeline for decisions, please visit the Dec. 21 high school boundary web post. Any boundary and related high school HC pathway changes will be implemented in the 2019-20 school year.

If you have questions regarding high school boundary next steps, please send them to growthboundaries@seattleschools.org and for advanced learning or highly capable pathway questions, please send them to advlearn@seattleschools.org.

If you can’t attend tomorrow’s board meeting in person, you may also watch it live on SPSTV, channel 26.
