Join Garfield’s Record-Breaking Carry 5 Walk for Water Team!

The Carry 5 Walk for Water is an event held by Water1st with the goal of uniting people in Seattle of all ages to walk in solidarity with the 1 billion people worldwide who don’t have access to clean water.

The walk is 5 kilometers around the Seattle Center on Sunday, May 6. Many people choose to carry water on their backs to represent the people in countries such as Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Honduras, and many more, where women and children are forced to walk many hours and miles a day for unsanitary water and carry it back for their families to use.

Last year Garfield’s team raised the most money of any other team, and was the first public school to ever fundraise the most money! They would love to have more students walk with them and join their page. Or please donate. This event is such a fun way to support an amazing cause, and every $85 raised provides a child with clean water and a toilet FOR LIFE!

The fundraising goal for the walk is $225,000, and the walk costs $15 to register for! Participants in the walk are encouraged to raise a minimum of $175 in order to reach this goal.
