Join the 2019 Title IX Task Force

The Seattle Public Schools is committed to maintaining a positive and productive environment, free from discrimination, including sexual harassment and sexual violence for adults and students. Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits sex discrimination in any educational program or activity. School Board Policy 3208 and Superintendent Procedure 3208SP provide the framework for district response to sexual harassment within Seattle Public Schools.

The Superintendent Procedure 3208SP establishes a periodic review of the use and efficacy of Policy 3208 and Procedure 3208SP by convening a group of district staff, volunteers, students, and family members. The work of the 2019 Title IX Task Force will be used by staff from the Office of Student Civil Rights to prepare a report to the superintendent and school board including, if appropriate, any recommended policy and procedure changes. You are invited to apply.

The task force will review if the district meets Title IX legal requirements and demonstrates Seattle Public Schools’ commitment to safe and civil education and work environments.

The task force will:

  1. Review and provide input on current practices
  2. Review and provide input on district educational activities for students regarding sexual misconduct and harassment awareness and prevention
  3. Develop recommendations for review by the superintendent and school board for any policy or procedure revisions

Read the task force charter.
