LGBTQ+ Dinner for SPS Families on Nov. 4

The District’s LGBTQ+ Families Dinner will be Saturday, Nov. 4, 5-7 pm at Meany Middle School.

The Program Coordinator for LGBTQ+ Support, Sam Cristol says:

We’re hoping to build in a little more community-building in addition to dining with you all, enjoying family-friendly drag entertainment and a bouncy house, art table, and face painting.

This is open to K-12 SPS families with LGBTQ+/gender-expansive kids, or families with one or more LGBTQ+ parent/caregiver.

Masks are optional, but if COVID numbers are high around that time, please consider masking when not eating to protect others. PLEASE RSVP HERE!

For safety, families are requested by SPS to refrain from sharing on social media about the event.

ALSO:

SPS’s Physical Education department has agreed that gender- or sex-based fitness assessments will no longer be used in P.E. classes.

SPS is working on getting this language solidified into procedure. This important change is intended to make P.E. more accessible to LGBTQ+ youth.
