Mary Hopkins is New Interim Assistant Principal
Principal Hart has appointed Mary Hopkins as Interim Assistant Principal for the rest of the 2023-2024 school year. He noted that, “With nearly 15 years of service at Garfield, including roles as Special Education and ML Department Chair, she brings a wealth of experience to our administrative team.”
Ms. Hopkins holds a Master of Education and a Residency Administrative Certificate from Heritage University, along with multiple endorsements in K-12 Special Education and English as a Second Language.
Dr. Hart’s announcement noted that “Ms. Hopkins’ leadership philosophy centers on collaboration and accessibility, making her a perfect fit for our commitment to a supportive and inclusive educational environment.”
Ms. Hopkins will be the go-to administrator for:
- all 9th-graders
- 12th-graders whose last names begin with H-N.
- students with IEPs whose last names begin with H-N
A search for a permanent Assistant Principal will begin in the spring. Ms. Hopkins is replacing Regina Carr, who departed Seattle Public Schools over the summer.
