Coach Thomas comes to Garfield from Ballard High where he was head football coach for 5 seasons. He finished his final season at Ballard with a team GPA of 3.0. Although he attended Kennedy Catholic High as a young man, he grew up only a mile from the Garfield campus and his wife Nicole was a GHS bulldog (C/O ’97). After graduating from Kennedy Catholic, Coach Thomas was a two-sport athlete at Montana State where he was a three-time All-American and three time All-Conference as a defensive back. He finished 3rd in the indoor Big Sky Championships. In 2004, Coach Thomas was a 3rd round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers. He went on to play five years in the NFL. Coach Thomas is excited about the opportunity to rebuild the football program at Garfield this year and already has two wins this season against Newport and Juanita. His life mantra is #TOP, which stands for T.otally O.ptimizing P.otential. – Thanks to Heidi King for this story.
