PTSA Spring Fundraiser!!!!
A message from our PTSA President
Please join us at the We are Garfield PTSA spring fundraiser on Saturday May 8th at 630pm. Registration is free, we will be celebrating community, student performances recorded during COVID, and hear a little about how the PTSA supports Garfield. Did I mention there will be some pretty awesome giveaways, you must register for the event to be entered. Last but not least, this will be a fundraiser and whether you can give $5 or $5000 we want you there. With an extremely lean school budget for next year, it will take all of us to make sure that the PTSA can continue to provide the almost 200,000 in support.
Register here: https://garfieldptsa.ejoinme.org/MyEvents/WeAreGarfieldSpring2021Fundraiser/tabid/1223945/Default.aspx
We will also be having a “pre-function” via zoom with breakout rooms by grade level starting at 5:30 pm. We know this year has been extremely difficult for connection so please join us before the main event to get to know other parents in the Garfield Community.
Please register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUpcO6vrTsjH9yg00hPHxSRbZpNdT_rsXiO
We hope to see you all May 8th! Go Bulldogs!
Warm Regards,

COHORTS
Please let me remind every as to why we have cohorts. First, we had to make groups of students smaller, because of our CDC COVID 19 protocols. Just as important, this is also a way to keep track of any student or staff member who has tested positive and anyone they’ve been in contact with. Therefore, it is very important for students to only show up on their cohort days for in-person learning. Teachers will not allow students to remain during a period they are not scheduled to attend.
If you have signed up to be a part of an in-person cohort, please make sure you attend by next Monday, May 10th (Cohort A) or Thursday, May, 13th (Cohort B) If you have not done so, by that date, your cohort will be changed to C Remote.
SENIORS!!
Graduation count down is 28 days from tomorrow (Wednesday). Please, please, please speak with your counselor regarding what you need to do to make sure you graduate. Mr. Lee, Mr. Courtney and Mr. Willis are the experts. I was in a meeting with them this morning and listening to all the possible tools they can use to support you, made my head swim! Avoidance is not a good thing, in this instance. Speak with your teachers about what you need to make up in that class. Whatever form graduation takes this year, I know you want to share the moment with your friends and family. Don’t be left out.

RAMADAN
From Ms. Yusuf:
I just wanted to inform you that many of your Muslim students and staff members have been taking part in Ramadan since April 13. If you aren’t aware of this religious event, Muslims fast during this holy month from sunrise to sunset. Ramadan is set to end May 11 with Eid celebration taking place the next day (May 12). Eid is a very special holiday for Muslims all over the world. Many of our Muslim students/staff will be taking part in this celebration and I think it would be great to acknowledge this and make sure teachers are aware of this upcoming holiday next week.
Thank you, Ms. Yusuf.
