Race & Social Justice Initiative Young Adult Council
The Race and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI) Young Adult Council is seeking applicants for the 2017-2018 school year. The RSJI Young Adult Council is a group of empowered voices aged 16-24 from diverse backgrounds coming together to discuss issues that affect our communities.
What We Do
- We discuss issues and address possible solutions to the conflicts youth / young adults in Seattle may face that possibly hinders their ability to be successful leaders
- Lead community events to raise awareness about local and nationwide issues such as youth homelessness, mass incarceration, and racial disparities in our institutions
- Work closely with the Office for Civil Rights, RSJI team, the Mayor, and other city departments to ensure that the youth of Seattle achieves the 6 Pillars of Success (Education, Employment, Community Involvement, Community Safety, Health, and Race and Social Justice)
Those selected will be paid $15/hour and transportation and meals will be covered.
