Summer Youth Employment Opportunity with Seattle Parks
Seattle Parks and Rec’s NRU Youth Enrichment Program is a six-week program, which provides youths with hands on work experience, life skills, career development training and 21st Century skills.
The program focuses the exploration of the five departments within the NRU facility, Trails, Green Seattle Partnership, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, and Environment, addressing community needs, which includes team-based efforts for environmental restoration, urban agriculture, advancing the green industry and building community through events, projects and programs. The youths are expected to develop good work habits, strong communication and leadership skills, while building strong soft skills and connects students with future career opportunities in the Green jobs sector.
Requirements:
- Participants must be 15 – 17 years old upon start of the program July 8, 2019
- Must be currently enrolled in the Seattle Public School District
- Have an interest in horticulture, environmental stewardship and a career in green jobs
- Application due May 31, 2019
Commitment:
The 6 –week summer session is held
July 8, 2019 – August 16, 2019
Monday – Friday 8 AM – 4 PM
Pay:
Earn up to $800.00
60 service learning hours
