Thank you, Mr. Stever!

Science teacher Jonathan Stever is retiring after 28 years of introducing Garfield students to the wonders of the ocean (and lakes and rivers and …)  in his Marine Science classes. Mr. Stever is a Garfield graduate who had been inspired by his own Marine Science teacher, the late Craig MacGowan).

Mr. Stever is best known by students for making Marine Science one of the most memorable and impactful classes of their high school experience. His students experienced hands-on learning, explored real-world science, and developed a deep appreciation for the natural world. Mr. Stever also frequently taught Biology.

A statement from the school noted: “Mr. Stever has been a steady, thoughtful presence in our building for more than three decades. His consistency, quiet leadership, and deep commitment to Garfield have left a lasting mark on this community.

“We are happy for him as he steps into retirement and grateful for all he has given to Garfield. Please take a moment to thank him and recognize the legacy he leaves behind.”
